Artist Statement"Go out, go out I beg you and taste the beauty of the wild. Behold the miracle of the earth with all the wonder of a child."- Edna JaquesI am fueled by my constant curiosity for the enduring cycles of life I find in nature, while exploring off the beaten path. Examples of persistent growth, adaptability, resiliency, and decay all call me to look closer. These examples can often become metaphors for human characteristics and experiences. My creative process starts with watercolor studies, photographs, as well as pencil and ink drawings. These preliminary images become the building blocks for the final painting. I utilize a variety of acrylic and water based mixed media techniques, often layering the painting surface to reach the desired effects.
