'Start Drawing' Saturday Workshop With Randy LeSage

Session I: Saturday May 14, 11AM-4PM

Session II: Saturday May 21, 11AM-4PM

Drawing is a great place to develop your creativity. Through objective exercises to expressive potential, we'll explore the visual language of Drawing. We'll apply uses of line, value, and shape to address proportion, perspective and composition. Begin to recognize your creative potential as you explore through pencil, charcoal and conte crayon.

1st class

Morning: Uses of line (contour line, measured line, gestural line) to draw from objects and non-objectively.

Afternoon: Uses of value to render volume in space, light and shadow.

2nd class

Morning: Perspective. Linear observation, applying contour and measured line, scale and proportion, from observation.

Afternoon: "Free" composition through conceptual perspective.

Supplies to Bring:

Graphite pencils: 2B, 4B, 6B. Additional, but not required: graphite sticks

Charcoal (pencils and/or sticks)

Conte Crayons (medium or soft)

Paper - Sketch or drawing pad (14 x 17 preferred, 12x16 alternative) Strathmore 400 series is good.Kneaded eraser, ruler, paper towels, sharpener.
