How to Make Cyanotype Prints 

This workshop is a hands-on introduction to creating Cyanotypes ("Sun Prints"), a light-sensitive printing
process that produces cobalt blue prints. After a demonstration of the basic process using
artificial UV light, we will explore the use of different materials to create images: botanicals,
reflective and semi-opaque objects, photographic negatives, etc. All participants will have the
opportunity to make their own prints. There will also be some explanation of toning and staining
techniques. This workshop is flexible and intended to be fun! Class agenda:
• view samples of cyanotype prints
• demonstration of process and required materials
• discussion of image-making materials
• expose and process participant’s own cyanotypes
• sharing of work
• demonstration of toning and staining techniques
• work some more with images of choice
